Area Information

Grant County Economic Development Corporation serves Grant County located in Northeastern South Dakota.  There are 9 communities and 17 townships that are served by the Corporation.  Milbank is the largest of the communities with a population of 3,640 and a county population of 7,847. 

We have access to great resources of work-force, transportation; including railroad, telecommunications; including fiber optics and other utilities.

This area is well known for it’s outstanding school districts and educational facilities.  There are 9 school districts in the county.  We are located close to two technical schools and several universities.

This area also has great access to healthcare.  We have incredible healthcare facilities of all levels, hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, dental, eye-care, and chiropractic care.  There are several specialty physicians and care providers that service this area as well.

There are great recreation spots in the county with several lakes for fishing, great hunting land as well as winter snowmobiling trails.  This county abounds with resources both for business and pleasure.

This area has some of the largest industries and agricultural manufacturing companies in the state, i.e., Dakota Granite, Cold Springs Granite, West-Con, Poet Bio-refining Ethanol, Big Stone Power Plant, Saputo Cheese Factory, Valley Queen Cheese Factory, United Hardware,  to name a few.
