Applicants sought for City Planning and Zoning Commission
The members of the City of Milbank Planning Commission shall be resident electors of the City of Milbank, qualified by knowledge or experience to act in matters pertaining to the city’s development and zoning regulations.
When are meetings: Planning and Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m.
Responsibilities: The Milbank, SD Planning and Zoning Commission is responsible for overseeing the city’s comprehensive planning and zoning regulations. They meet monthly to discuss and address the city’s current and future development needs, including reviewing building permits, zoning changes, and land use applications

Vacancy Details: Currently accepting interested parties for one immediate vacancy and one upcoming vacancy both with terms ending in 2028 as well as four alternates.

Process for Appointment: Applicant information will be passed to Mayor Raffety. He will contact you to discuss your interest in the commission as well as your qualifications.
Timeline: Contact Brandy before Noon on 11/22/2024. Mayor Raffety will contact you in the next few days and then recommendations for Council Approval will be on the December 9, 2024 agenda.

Code Section: 17.21.02 Membership of the Planning Commission
The City Planning Commission shall consist of seven members and up to four alternates appointed by the Mayor subject to the approval of the City Council. The members of this Planning Commission shall be resident electors of the City of Milbank, qualified by knowledge or experience to act in matters pertaining to the development and administration of the City Plan. One member of the City Council shall be appointed by the Mayor to act as a liaison between the Planning Commission and the City Council. This Council member will not be a voting member of the Planning Commission. Administrative officials of the City may be appointed as ex-officio members of the Commission by the Mayor.
