Birthplace of American Legion Baseball
The American Legion Baseball league was first proposed at an American Legion state convention in Milbank, South Dakota, in 1925.
More than 95 years later, American Legion Baseball continues to be one of the most successful and tradition-rich amateur athletic leagues.

Hurley Park – Hurley Winter Park Ice Skating

Hurley Park provides entertainment for all seasons. Relax in the grass and watch the kids play on the splash pad or bundle up for winter and check out the ice skating rink. The small log cabin contains restrooms and a warming area during the cool months.

Jack and Jill Park

Jack & Jill Park is centrally located one block south of Highway 12. Surrounded by a residential area, this park offers a great family environment. Basketball courts and grass areas are great for older children and the large playground area focuses on younger children. A shaded picnic shelter and restrooms are available.
Lake Farley Park
Address: North on Hwy 15 – Milbank, SD, 57252
Lake Farley is one of Milbank’s most beautiful areas. This large park offers entertainment and fun for individuals of all ages. Several different playgrounds are available for children, as well as a swimming beach with two docks. Five picnic shelters across the park are accessible for relaxation, family picnics, or event gatherings. A path around the park is great for walking, jogging, or biking. Enjoy a game of basketball or volleyball near the beach area. Restrooms are available near the playground and beach. This manmade lake was named after an active community volunteer and councilman, John Stanley Farley. The lake and dam provided the needed source of water for operating the steam locomotives that fueled the railroad train. Take a chance to visit the Lake Farley Train Station near the beach area.
Milbank Dog Park
Location: Fair Street – North on Main Street where Diggs Avenue curves to the left, turn right on Fair Street, cross the bridge, go around the curve and its on your left.
The Milbank Dog Park is located in the north part of town near Whetstone Creek. The fenced location allows dogs to play on both a grass area and has pea rock in the dog agility playground section. Benches and picnic tables are available for visiting and resting.
Pribyl Park

Pribyl Park is a large park on the South end of Milbank. This park is equipped with three softball fields, Skate Park, and small playground area. Take a stroll on Schreiner Trail or spend time with friends and family in the large grass areas. Near Koch School, this park also has a picnic shelter, restrooms, and concession area. This 32 acre park was named after Darell Pribyl for his many years of work developing and caring for city parks.

Tennis Courts

Such pioneering work of the Montgolfier Brothers that had managed to invent a hot air balloon that could carry both animals and human beings successfully. Four tennis courts and small picnic shelter offer enjoyment and entertainment.
